When mortgage broker Philip Tirone was denied overdraft protection because of a past mistake, he knew he needed to learn more about the relationship between financial hardship and credit scores. Specializing in difficult-to-obtain loans for borrowers with subprime credit scores and/or stated incomes, Philip Tirone knew that becoming a credit guru would help his clients recover from past mistakes faster, saving them money in the long run by increasing their credit scores and lowering their interest payments.
After studying patterns in tens of thousands of credit reports, Philip Tirone identified the habits that most quickly increase a person’s credit score. He also discovered how a person can build a 720 credit score within two years of a bankruptcy, foreclosure, or other major financial meltdown.
From his findings, Philip Tirone authored 7 Steps to a 720 Credit Score, as well as the companion workbook, Applying the 7 Steps to a 720 Credit Score, which became one of Nightingale-Conant’s bestsellers.
He then set about to make this information freely available to the public, lobbying President Obama to support a nationwide outreach program that provides information about the credit-scoring system to consumers who have been through a bankruptcy or foreclosure. As well, he created a free teleseminar that explains how banks are “legally robbing” consumers with high interest rates and shrouded credit policies. Philip’s seminar explains how consumers can build their credit scores and rebound from bankruptcies, foreclosures, repossessions, and collections.
Philip Tirone is the founder of the Mortgage Equity Group, a non-traditional mortgage company that helps borrowers increase their credit scores so they can be placed in the best loan programs available. His policies and ideas have been published in the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, New York Times.com, Newsday, Woman’s World Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, Bankrate.com, and Bottom Line Magazine. He was also featured prominently in Secrets of the Young & Successful, a New York Times bestseller written by Jennifer Kushell, as well as Industry Transformers by Dan Sullivan.
Today, Philip Tirone enjoys a credit score of 759. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three children.
